Massage, Reflexology, Aromatherapy, Hopi Ear Candling, Facials, Reiki, Pregnancy and Baby Classes, all in Oxford, Wallingford and surrounding Oxfordshire areas page contents

WHAT HOLISTIC THERAPY OR CLASS SHALL I BOOK TODAY? Here's some ideas:

Massage styles

Massage stimulates circulation of the blood and lymph fluids, fuels the muscles with fresh oxygen and nutrients while flushing away metabolic waste products, releases physical tension and soothes the nerves by lowering the stress hormones cortisol and norepinephrine and by releasing endorphins in the brain, which have been known to be 200 times the strength of morphine. A massage irons out the wrinkles of tension in our body to leave us feeling rejuvenated and better. Massage affects the immune system as well.

You can have a Swedish massage, or go for a deep tissue technique. Sue Evans has also been trained in lymphatic drainage, trigger therapy, Indian head massage, pregnancy massage, reflexology, acupressure, shiatsu and hot stones.

You can have an invigorating or relaxing treatment. Either way it will be therapeutic and will benefit all body systems, soothe your mind and renew the soul.

Sue has eased a frozen shoulder, sciatica, stiff neck and shoulders, tight muscles and general aches and pains.

Aromatherapy can help even further on a physical and emotional level as essential oils can get into the blood stream for an inside out effect. Ask Sue to create your perfect wellbeing blend. You can also have a cellulite busting treatment or anti-aging facial so just talk to Sue about your needs.

Give your feet and body an MOT & Service
Reflexology treats all health issues as it balances your mind and body. Specialist massage works major organs, glands and chakras in the body as your feet are a mirror of you. Experience therapist Sue Evans will help to clear blockages. Her clients have treatments to help with the menopause, fertility, pregnancy, anxiety, and other ailments.

It can be a very relaxing treatment for most and Sue believes when your body is relaxed it can heal itself. Treatments boost your immune system and help all body systems to work effectively so that you can cope with life as it unfolds.

Other therapies combine well, like Reiki and Aromatherapy. Or why not have a half hour massage or facial and a half hour reflexology treatement? Ask Sue to tailor to your needs.

Combine hot and cold stones for a speedy recovery
The use of stones in a treatment makes it an energy treatment - you can receive positive energy from the stones as they are charged by the full moon and because they come from the earth.

Experienced therapist Sue Evans uses Arizona desert stones and these are very clearing and cleansing. She can also use cool marble stones and crystals to emphasise healing effects.

Sue places stones on chakras and areas which need attentian. She also massages with them which can create a firmer, nurturing feeling. Two stones may be applied to the body at the same time for a sublime massage feeling. Sue uses over 72 stone if you have a top to toe treatment! It is such a blissful feeling on the face and toning too!

Hot works well for chronic pain. Cold stones work well for acute injuries and together they speed up the recovery of injuries and aches and pains. They can also be used at the same time, one hand with a hot stone, the other with a cold stone and Sue can then give you an invigorating massage if you have cellulite or jet-lagged legs!

The hot stones are deeply relaxing. The heat penetrates deep into the muscles, in fact a hot stone massage is supposed to be 10 times more effective than a regular massage.

It is one of those must-try treatments, with a deluxe, spa-like feel. Why not indulge even further and add an aromatherapy blend or facial to the experience! Tasters are 30 mins.

Discover renewed wellbeing with the powers of scents and touch
Aromatherapy uses the purest plant essence in the form of organic essential oils, which are extracts from various parts of plants, fruits, flowers, bark, roots, or resin. Essential oils contain dozens of powerful complex natural chemicals that have beneficial properties. Due to the diversity of essential oils and their individual therapeutic properties, the range of benefits and effects of Aromatherapy is wide ranging.

Most Aromatherapists will have a holistic approach to client consultation. This provides the information necessary to select the appropriate essential oils for the maximum therapeutic benefit. The selected essential oils are blended with a carrier/base massage oil to create a unique mix for each client’s individual needs. This Aromatherapy blend is usually applied to the skin with traditional body massage. Other massage techniques such as deep tissue work may also be used, depending on the Aromatherapist’s practice and the client’s requirement.

Benefits and Effects

Aromatherapy treatments have both physiological and psychological effects. The combination of massage and the medicinal and therapeutic qualities of the essential oils (molecules both inhaled [aroma] and absorbed through the skin) can soothe, revitalise, uplift the spirit, encourage positive thinking and boost the immune system enabling the body to heal itself.
  • Physiological Benefits – Aromatherapy massage can:
  • enhance lymphatic drainage – this helps to reduce fluid retention and prevent oedema
  • induce a feeling of deep relaxation in the body
  • help to restore balance in the body
  • stimulate the body’s natural immune system
  • increase the oxygen and nutrient supply to the tissues by increasing the blood circulation
  • help to increase energy levels as blockages and congestion in the nerves are eased
Psychological Benefits – Aromatherapy massage can:
  • promote a general state of well-being
  • calm and soothe the mind
  • help to reduce nervous tension
  • help to lift the mood and reduce feelings of depression

When your body is relaxed it can heal itself and reiki facilitates this. Reiki is always positive and reiki knows what you need.

You can be fully clothed for this treatment. Sue places her hands on body areas and charkras or she hovers above them so it is a non-intrusive treatment.

Reiki can send you into a sense of deep relaxation where deep breathes become a natural and enjoyable experience. You may feel like you are sinking into the couch and letting go or you may feel like you a floating in a blissful state. Perhaps you feel like you are meditating for the first time.

All treatments can combine Reiki or you may want to experince Reiki on its own.

Why not allow Sue to attune you to Reiki Level 1 & 2 so you can heal yourself and others emotionally and physically.

Refresh your head

What is an Indian Head Massage?

As implied by the name, the Indian Head Massage is a form of massage therapy created in India thousands of years ago. It is deep style a massage derived from the Ayurvedic tradition that focuses on the head, shoulders and neck.

Through a variety of different techniques, the massage works to release any blocked negative energy in the body that may be manifesting itself as disease or injury in any one of the seven Chakras (energy centres) of the body. It does so by applying pressure to certain points on the neck, shoulders and head that correspond to each Chakra (which is a similar approach to that of reflexology). This unblocks the Chakras, and allows for a free flow of energy around the body, restoring the individual to optimum health and feelings of wellbeing.

What to Expect From an Indian Head Massage

An Indian Head massage is the ideal way to get a person “out of their head”, far far away from everyday emotional and mental stress.

The massage usually goes between 25 – 30 minutes, and may or may not use certain oils in the hair and on the body. Starting at the upper back, the Indian Head masseuse begins by applying pressure to points that dissolve knots and relax the muscles. They then move to the shoulders and upper arms to release other common areas of tension, and to the neck and head to release headache-causing blockages and to encourage better circulation of the cerebral fluid. The massage then progresses to the scalp, relaxing the entire head, encouraging circulation and stimulating hair growth. Lastly, the masseuse may choose to perform a gentle face massage that may relieve symptoms of sinusitis & headaches, and encourages good circulation and a glowing complexion.

Benefits

An Indian Head Massage may prove beneficial by:
  • Relieving built up tension that can often result in headaches, migraines, neck and back pain..
  • Detoxifying the body by stimulating lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting overall immunity
  • Improving circulation, which in turn increases energy levels.
  • Promoting clarity and increased concentration.
  • Soothes symptoms of asthma by calming the respiratory system.
  • Relieves Mandibular Joint Tension.
  • Increases muscle tone.
  • Relieves symptoms of sinusitis.
  • Boosts cerebral spinal fluid circulation.
  • Relieves sleeplessness, restlessness and insomnia.
An Indian Head massage may also improve overall mental health by:
  • Relieving symptoms of anxiety and depression
  • Providing relief from stress and promotes relaxation
  • Improving concentration levels
  • Renewing energy levels
  • Increasing feelings of peace, calm and well being.
  • Boosting memory capabilities

What are we?

Just like our antenatal classes, Daisy Baby® really turns tradition on its head. Gone are the familiar infant massage or baby yoga routines, as we embrace an amazing class plan devised over 7 years of research, which really understands a baby's needs and what works in those early weeks.

We understand that in those first tentative weeks baby needs to be in your arms and in them quite a lot! By bringing together positive touch, baby yoga inspired movement, movement for mum and relaxation into one complete class with lots of opportunity to have babe in arms, mums find they are usually able to participate for longer and with more enjoyment! And when baby feels it is all too much, our beautiful white noise lullabies soothe them off to sleep.

Daisy Baby is all about Active Bonding (completely baby led of course).

It combines our much loved baby sun saluation routines, getting to know each other exercises, soft movements and relaxations for mum and baby, white noise exercises, social baby time, alongside vital education to help you understand the 4th trimester.

By delivering techniques which can really have a positive impact on sleep, colic, calming, mums well being, postnatal anxieties, all within a friendly and intimate group surrounding, mums feel more empowered, more energised and ready to face the world!

Our teachers come from a variety of backgrounds professionally but are all mums, so can talk firsthand about their experiences of bringing up baby! All are fully trained.

But what makes us truly different, is that this Tinies class is set to our own beautiful 1hr 30minute backing track designed to appeal to baby's sensory needs (especially written and produced by local composer and production company) to enable you to flow from segment to segment, pausing to enjoying lyrical cuddle time or sleepy time, even when baby isn't in the mood to participate actively.
Key Features

Our teaches are fully trained in IPTI approved infant massage, movement for baby plus having a variety of specialisms such as 'sleep consultant' and 'baby wearing consultant. This is far more than a traditional baby massage class however!

KEY BENEFITS INCLUDE: A completely natural and gentle step from Daisy Birthing to Daisy Baby with teachers, music and flow all feeling so familiar - like curling up in an armchair in your favourite pair of slippers!

We're accessible for all mums, not just the mums and babies suffering with colic!

We're fun ..... Our learning is serious yes, but our class is relaxing, refreshing and friendly.

We provide a community of like minded mums all wanting to talk about the positives of bringing up baby and celebrating all choices (all types of feeding, nappies, parenting attitudes are MOST WELCOME).

We're affordable with this combined education costing just £9 per week.

•Your baby won't need to lay on their back for extended periods in order to participate (so ideal for babies who need cuddles, or babies with reflux). It doesn't matter if baby cries .... and even when this happens our lovely calming techniques really tend to soothe them so quickly.
•Techniques can help common ailments like colic, reflux, tight neck (torticollis) and flat head

New Baby Classes like Never Before! 54.00 for 6 classes and ongoing terms

PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE PRESS RELEASE
Just as a new baby has arrived in the area, a new baby class has arrive in Wallingford and Oxford for yoga babes, mums and their chums. It’s called Daisy Baby! And it’s sweeping the nation with it’s soothing and gentle strokes!

If you’re the type of mum who likes a little bit of everything and who likes to have her cake and eat it, then this is the baby class for you.  It’s the class your baby really wants to go to because unlike any other baby class it caters for all their development needs, and let’s not forget your needs, we value those too! Let your baby be a Daisy Baby and see them grow into your happy, healthy little one! (And yes there is actually free cake included, so you do get everything you want and more from a Daisy Baby class). Oh, and no need to feel guilty on the cake because the class helps your tummy flatten back again, in time for another baby!
Too good to be true? No! And it’s  actually on your doorstep!  Because Daisy Baby classes can come to you.

Introducing Daisy Baby - No other class offers such a comprehensive wellbeing programme in this area for mum and baby, from 6 weeks to crawling.

Expect active-bonding that utilises movement, breathing and relaxation for a positive and confident parenting experience.  Expect a massage routine for your all child's health needs, with baby reflexology too.  Expect a sensory journey of tunes, sounds and words.  Each weekly class involves positive touch, yoga style stretches, white noise, music, beats, words and rhythm.  So no, it’s not your average baby yoga massage class at all!

Daisy Baby merges traditional baby bonding techniques and provides a classroom environment which is sympathetic to the needs of mum and baby.  A Daisy Baby teacher empowers mum and baby.  Classes are baby-led, supporting baby’s needs, not fighting against them.   Nothing is too challenging.   Daisy Baby classes offer time to watch, study and become aware of baby’s language so that we can understand their needs by creating timely and appropriate responses.  Better responses means less frustrating parenting.   We avoid rigid mat work styles and instead of laying baby on their back all of the time, we attune to baby, and observe and learn baby’s visual and auditory cues that tell us when they need to be held, cuddled, moved or have a need for containment. We avoid overload. We never force, always move with the body and respect resistance. We never over stimulate infants and have alternatives for baby if they are reluctant to join in.  We never have the pressure of over lengthy massage segments.  No need to remove baby’s clothes! And mummy never feels left out, lonely, inadequate or a failure. There’s always a way of joining in. We raise self-esteem.

Dr Harvey Karp (author of The Happiest Baby on the Block) once said: It’s intuitive to want to calm your baby; it’s not intuitive to know how.  Daisy Baby teachers know what calms a baby and the Daisy Baby class introduces parents to the simple steps of how to switch on the calming button, like an off switch for crying!

Traditional classes focus on the physical causes of common ailments and conditions such as colic, reflux, sleep and intolerance, whereas Daisy Baby focus on the emotional causes too to bring about therapeutic benefits. Daisy Baby provides coping holds, strokes and techniques for challenging times. No other class offers a release for a baby with flat head (torticulis). Daisy Baby classes show you moves to free any possible neck tightness which could restrict baby from turning at the neck.

Attending the Daisy Baby classes help to aid and develop attachment with baby and help alleviate post natal depression.  The classes can help with brain development and weight gain including premature babies. We strengthen the digestive system and nervous system, improve skin condition and circulation.  The touching techniques improves muscle tone, bone growth and respiration to name but a few.  Our strokes help to wire the synapses of the brain, aid communication and enhance feel-good hormones.  Mum feels better too!

Daisy Baby techniques deepens and regulates the breathing and increases the level of oxygen in the blood stream, which leads to deeper sleep and is great for fussy babies!

By allowing baby to enjoy movement and exercise during the first few months of life, Daisy Baby classes help to integrate primitive reflexes displayed during the fourth trimester to assist the development of balance, posture, voluntary movement, visual functioning and perceptual skills.  For example after time, the Daisy Baby classes gradually see the Moro (Startle) reflex disperse, which is why we pride ourselves in growing happy babies.

The quality time out together in a Daisy Baby class provides:

·         time for mum and baby to move with soft stretches

·         baby massage which provides astonishing emotional and developmental benefits

·         positive touch for mum and baby which provides wellbeing for mum and baby

·         mother to mother support to share positive and negative feelings and reassurance that baby is normal with a forum for keeping in touch

·         an environment designed to help mums ease into understanding their baby, get to know their baby and feel confident in handling them

·         lots of repetition so mums can digest the knowledge and carry on beneficial techniques at home

·         vital education on the calming reflex and how to switch it on

·         vital vestibular stimulation for baby

·         familiarity of routine, ritual and recognised exercises when everything else seems unfamiliar

·         a safe haven  of familiarity and continuity of care

·         an opportunity to relax and learn how to relax

·         a chance to let go of fears and celebrate mummyhood

·         postnatal exercises so mum can reconnect with tummy,  tone her abdomen, work core stability and help core strength

·         a time to rest - the relaxation time allows mum to feel good and proud about her body and her role as a mum

·         a spiral of joy where a happy mum creates a happy response from baby, creates a happy mum and the spiral of joy continues

·         a time to laugh and have fun

·         a chance for mums and babies to release happy hormones and relaxants to promote a restful after class sleep!

What’s more, the Daisy Baby term is inexpensive - only 54.00 for 6 consecutive weekly classes, cheaper than others in the area.
